*Refuge is for people who wish to make a karmic connection with a teacher.
The ceremony has a ritual to it in which a few strands of hair are cut
and you are given a “refuge” name. There is the request that you recall
the Buddhist ideals or say a short Buddhist prayer such as, “May all
beings have happiness, be free of suffering, possess joy and be at peace”.
**Empowerments are more formal ceremonies that make a karmic connection
between you and the meditation practice. The empowerment will be on
Sunday March 10th and will be the meditation of Chenrezig – Bodhisattva of compassion. Chenrezig is also known in Sanskrit as Avalokitesvara the all seeing Lord of compassion.
Registration fees help to cover the cost of teaching expenses; however, no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please contact registration@indianacountyktc.org to request financial assistance.
